HL7Connect Manager is an executable program that allows you to update HL7Connect, upgrade licences, change the database location, delete messages and clear the database.

To Open HL7Connect Manager

  1. Click the Windows START button
  2. Select Programs, and navigate to the HL7Connect
  3. Click on Manager

Database Status

Field    Description
Database Location

Allows you to change the type and location of database.

NOTE: NOT recommended under usual operating conditions, as you effectively loose all your data, including user profiles, messages, interfaces etc.

Current Status    Allows upgrades to HL7Connect.

  1. Click the Upgrade button.
  2. Follow the Upgrade Wizard steps to upgrade HL7Connect.

Licence Status    Displays the current license status and allows a change of license.

Generally the first installation of HL7Connect will be using an evaluation license. Evaluation licenses expire 30 days from the date of installation and HL7Connect will cease to function. A full license can be purchased from http://www.hl7connect.com and installed via the license status change button:

  1. Click the Change button.
  2. The Certificates window will open, browse to and select the updated license certificate and click open

Service Control

Has complete control of HL7Connect.

Field    Description
Stop/Start the HL7Connect Service    Starts and stops the HL7Connect Service (all interfaces including local host)

Click on Start or Stop to manually start or stop the HL7Connect service.
NOTE: If this option is greyed-out and not selectable then try running Manager as administrator (Right click on Manager via the Windows Start menu and choose to "Run as administrator...")

No interfaces start automatically    Prevents all interfaces from starting on startup of HL7Connect.
  1. Check the No interfaces start automatically box.
  2. Click the Change button that appears to the right of the check box.
Compatibility Mode (old version)    Creates a manual over-ride to the "On Kernel Start" and "On Kernel Stop" scripting options, so that you can start up HL7Connect, despite any problems that you may have with your script.
Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) Info    Allows the use of Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) when using the HL7Connect web Interface. You would then access the HL7Connect Interface using a "https:" prefix when connecting to the server with your web browser, rather than the standard "http:".

When configuring SSL, you must provide 4 pieces of information:

  • SSL Certificate - the actual SSL public certificate
  • CA Certificate - the public certificate of the CA that signed the SSL certificate
  • Private Key - the private key created with the public certificate
  • Password - the password for the private key

There are two convenience operations for creating a CA Certifcate request and importing the CA response; these are convenience methods that use openSSL's certificate functions.

Utilities

Field    Description
HL7 Dictionary Source      Allows you to change the source of the HL7 Dictionary
  1. Click the Change button.
  2. Select from:
  • Embedded (uses the embedded dictionary within HL7Connect only)
  • HL7 Access DataBase - provided by the HL7 Organisation ( http://www.hl7.org )

Database Utilities

Field    Description
Import Schemas      When HL7Connect converts a v2 message from vertical bar to xml syntax, it must build the segment group elements. The segment group definitions used during this process are taken from the standard XML schemas. The schemas can be reimported in order to allow users to modify the existing groups or create new ones for local customization.
Import LOINC      The LOINC names are used in the list boxes for CDA Document type, and are available in the scripting. More recent LOINC databases can be imported. When prompted, select a LOINC MS Access database from the LOINC distribution.
Import Snomed      Snomed can be used to perform conditional routing based on Snomed Subsumption logic. Due to licensing restrictions, Snomed is not distrbuted with HL7Connect. In order to support Snomed, a copy of the snomed definitions must be imported. When prompted, select the concept definitions file for your distribution of Snomed. HL7Connect will also look for the description and relationships files in the same directory.
Delete All Messages

Will delete all messages in the HL7Connect database

  1. Click the Delete all messages button.
  2. Click OK.
Clear the database

Clears all messages, interfaces, users etc from the interface.

NOTE: Not recommended for ordinary use.

  1. Click on the Clear the database button.
  2. Click OK.
Delete All Tables

Deletes all the tables that HL7Connect created in the database

NOTE: Not recommended for ordinary use.

  1. Click on the Delete All Tables button.
  2. Click OK.
