HL7 Dictionary Features

  • Embedded dictionary file, or use the access database that can be purchased from HL7.org
  • All normalized versions are supported - As new versions of the HL7 standards are released, your next upgrade of HL7Connect will contain the latest reference material, so you'll always be up to date! Change versions at any time, even after you've drilled down into a message
  • The dictionary is easily accessible from both the HL7Connect Development Environment and from the HL7Connect Interface Engine
  • Segments
    • Lists all HL7 message segments
    • View each segments structure and attributes
    • Links to data types (including their structure) and tables used in that segment
    • Links to Events that use that segment
  • Elements
    • List of every data element in all HL7 message segments
    • Includes links to their data type and structure
  • Tables
    • All HL7 Defined Tables (used with ID data types) and User-Defined Tables (used with IS data types, has no suggested values, needs to be extended by the site)
    • Each table contains the valid entries for each version of the standard
  • Structures
    • Structures for all datatypes
    • Links to the data type structures
    • Links to any HL7 tables used
  • Events
    • List of all trigger events
    • Links take you to the message structure for that event type and the structure for its acknowledgement
